$10 Mistake Nets Michigan Lottery Player $4.4M
BRIDGEPORT TWP. (AP) - A $10 mistake resulted in $4.4 million for a lottery-playing Flint resident.
The anonymous winner bought the winning $10 Cash for Life lottery ticket at TA-Saginaw Travel Center in Bridgeport Township, Mlive.com reported.
But that wasn't the plan. The winner put a $20 in the ticket machine while intending to spend only $10. The player decided to spend the extra $10 on the Cash for Life ticket and told lottery officials "it wasn't even what I wanted."
The winner can receive annual payments of about $200,000 or a one-time cash payment of the total before taxes.
Lottery officials say the winner plans to use the money to pay off a mortgage and other bills, as well as share the newfound wealth with family members.
