1 Of 5 Girls In Crash Released From Hospital
LOWELL (WWJ/AP) - One of five teenage girls involved in a major crash while on the way to a basketball game has been released from a hospital in Grand Rapids.
Meanwhile, the principal of Grand Haven High School said in an email to district parents that others are stable. The five were riding Friday in a Honda SUV when the vehicle crashed through the median and landed on the westbound side of Interstate 96 near Lowell.
The girls — Emily Bogner, 16; Madison Case, 17; Hannah DeVecht, 17; Danielle Michaels, 16; and Brittney Olds, 16 — were traveling east to East Lansing to watch the Grand Haven girls basketball team in the state playoffs. Fog was a factor. A witness, Scott Cole, told the Grand Haven Tribune that the Honda passed him and was just "flying" down the interstate.
Three girls were ejected from the vehicle.
