Football Fanatic Stabs Another After Lions Game

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Police say a football fanatic in Chattanooga took things too far when he stabbed a fan of another team.

Officers were called out to Fanatics Sports Bar on Saturday where fans had watched the New Orleans Saints play the Detroit Lions on TV.

Police say 56-year-old Thomas Gulrtin told them he was celebrating the win of the New Orleans Saints and put his arm around 28-year-old Darius Edward Arabghani in celebratory fun. Chattanooga Police Sgt. Jerri Weary said Arabghani was offended by Gulrtin's gloating and stabbed him in the arm with a pocket knife.

Weary said in a statement on Sunday that Arabghani was charged with assault.

Jail records do not indicate whether Arabghani has an attorney.
