1 Dead, Several In Critical Condition After Home Firebombed In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police and fire are investigating a fatal firebombing incident.
The incident occurred on Kenmoor between McNichols and Gratiot. There were nine people inside the house when the incident occurred at around 6 o'clock Sunday morning.
Police Commandeer Steve Dolunt says according to witnesses two people jumped out of a dark colored vehicle and threw a Molotov cocktail inside the house.
"They are still investigating the scene, it is my understanding, that when fire and police got here it was an active scene. The first responders were pulling people out of the house and with EMS here they all did an outstanding job - as far as trying to save who they could," said Commandeer Dolunt.
"We were asleep and our neighbor started knocking on the door and said there was a fire .. she seen the car, it was like a black (Chevy) Malibu and she said she seen the two guys get out and throw the fire bomb into the house ... then we got woke up," said one resident. "They had to come get us off the back porch - the smoke was so strong."
Police tell WWJ that of the nine people in the house seven people are hospitalized, three are in critical condition. One person was killed in the fire.
