Young Mother's Murder Remains Mystery

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Camille Jackson, 21, was found murdered in her Aurora apartment in February. No arrests have been made in the case.

Jackson's daughter, 10-month-old Imani, was found unharmed inside the apartment when police discovered Camille's body. Her death was ruled suspicious until recently it was ruled a homicide by the coroner's office.

Imani now lives with Camille's mother, Monique Jackson. It's a situation that is bittersweet.

"It's a comfort, a comfort to have her here. Hopefully she's young enough that this isn't going to scar her," said Monique.

How Camille died remains sealed. Aurora police said they aren't releasing those details because it typically becomes part of the interview and investigation process.

Monique told CBS4 that detectives have interviewed a lot of people who knew Camille, including a person who left Colorado right after her murder. That person is under arrest in Texas on other charges unrelated to the case.

"They have some good leads. It might be a long process for them to link who they need to link to the crime scene," said Monique.

Police confirm there was no forced entry into Camille's apartment by anyone other than police. Monique said her daughter's keys are also missing.

"Whoever it was had locked the door behind them. Someone who's familiar with her, been there before," said Monique.

Police said they have talked to Imani's father. He is not currently a person of interest in the case.
