Young Man Killed In Playground Crash Remembered By Family, Friends

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Dozens of people gathered at a playground at the Whisper Creek Apartments Thursday evening to remember Robert Husak, 19. The young man was struck by a landscaping truck last week. He died as a result of his injuries.

Matthew McCord, 20, and Husak, were sitting on a bench at about 3:30 p.m. May 20 when the landscaping truck went off the road smashed into the playground and blindsided them.

The crash happened at 3505 S. Nelson Circle, close to the intersection of Kipling and Hampden.

Husak's family released this statement, "In his passing, Robert gave the gift of life to others by choosing to be an organ and tissue donor. While he will never be forgotten, others will now have a chance at life because of his death, and that makes us extremely proud."

The driver of the truck was Sebastian Kowzan, 28, of Arvada. He was also hurt, but not seriously. The accident remains under investigation. It's not clear if Kowzan will face any charges.
