Xcel Energy Crews Work To Restore Power To Thousands During Blizzard
DENVER (CBS4) - Xcel Energy says customers in northern Colorado should be prepared for power outages throughout the night. More than 450 employees, contractors and partners are working around the clock to restore service.
Even so, Xcel says many customers may not see their power restored until sometime on Monday. As of 9 pm. Sunday, about 29,000 customers were without power in northern Colorado. Another 545 customers in the Denver metro area were without power.
"Many of the outages are due to the heavy wet snow and blizzard conditions causing damage to powers lines and electric poles," Xcel said in a news release. "Because of the adverse weather challenges crews are facing, power may not be restored this evening."
Emergency weather shelters are available in Morgan and Larimer Counties at the following locations:
- Morgan County: Fort Morgan High School – 709 E Riverview Ave., Fort Morgan
- Larimer County: Leeper Center – 3800 Wilson Ave., Wellington and Ridgeline Hotel – 101 S. Saint Vrain Ave., Estes Park
