World Famous Ice Castle Moves To Steamboat Ski Area
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Despite weather conditions working against them last year, the creators of the world famous ice castle are moving to a new Colorado town this winter.
The ice castle has ended up on the slopes of Steamboat Ski Resort. It's now just a waiting game for the nighttime temperatures to consistently drop below 20 degrees for Corey Livingood and his team to start making this year's ice castle.
"Really looking forward to this year, it's going to be great," Livingood said "I've been telling people about it all summer."
Last year in a flat park in Silverthorne the ice castle battled the warm, dry winter to stay intact. There's already a big outlook this year.
"This one is going to be in different stair steps. The first set will be a little bit lower then it'll work its way up to the largest tower," Livingood said.
After a deal to move to the town of Breckenridge fell through, the ice castle makers were approached by Steamboat Ski Resort.
