Woman Convicted In Alleged Plot To Kill Ex-Husband

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Jurors in Weld County have convicted a woman accused of conspiring with her boyfriend to kill her ex-husband.

The Greeley Tribune reported Georgia Watson could face eight to 24 years in prison at a sentencing hearing in April. She was convicted Tuesday.

Her 29-year-old boyfriend, Cecil Joe Erb, was sentenced last year to life in prison without parole for first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Watson conspired to kill 44-year-old Jeffrey Watson Sr. to cash in on his $100,000 life insurance policy, which named her as the beneficiary.

Prosecutors alleged Georgia Watson had planned the slaying for years, but her attorney, Keith Coleman, said medications Watson was taking daily for pain, muscle spasms and migraines rendered her unintelligible. Coleman said Erb acted alone.
