Woman Tied To Douglas County Slayings: 'I Know The Truth'

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4)- A woman charged as an accessory in a double murder in Douglas County said she knows the truth and that it will come out in court.

Krystal Kurcz, 21, spoke to CBS4's Tom Mustin at her Colorado Springs home on Monday.

"I'm not going to say anything, I'm not going to make any comments about it now. I know the truth," said Kurcz.

Kurcz is one of two women arrested in connection with the grisly murders of Amara Wells, 39, and Robert Rafferty, 49, in February at Rafferty's home near Castle Rock.

When asked if she was involved in the murders at all, Kurcz replied, "I'm not going to say anything. All that matters is I know the truth that will be proven in court."

Kurcz and Megan Cassidy, 22, from Parker, were arrested last week and charged as accessories in the crime.

Kurcz was charged with false reporting and carrying a concealed weapon. Cassidy was charged with tampering with evidence. Both women bonded out of jail.

Detectives are not revealing much information about the role the women allegedly played in the suspected double murder-for-hire case.

"The investigation led to the belief that these two women had some part in it. We can't release what part of it. You can see looking at the changes what role they could have played or what they had to do with it," said Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Cocha Heyden.

Four men have been charged with murder in the case. Christopher Wells was Amara's estranged husband and is accused of arranging the hit. Wells has been in custody since the day before the murders on suspicion of violating a restraining order after he allegedly sent hundreds of text messages to his ex-wife.

Wells is facing charges of first degree murder, criminal solicitation, conspiracy, violations of bond and protection order.
