Wireless Store Theft Suspects Arrested

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora have arrested two suspects wanted in connection with a robbery at Wendy City Wireless. Amanda Blankenship, 25, and Jake Morales, 22, were arrested on Saturday night.

Police believe they robbed the wireless store at 15057 E. Colfax Ave. at 11:22 a.m. June 21. The owner said a man ran out of the store while he was holding an expensive cell phone.

Wendy City's owner, Richard Stephenson, went after the thief. As he was trying to chase him down, a woman behind the wheel of the getaway car ran over him.

"I almost caught him, but his girl was driving the car and she caught me first," said Richard.

"I can't believe that people have no regard for human life, all for a cell phone. My husband could have died," said Richard's wife, Wendy.

Stephenson suffered two broken ribs, along with injuries to his arm, legs and back. He's posted signs on his business letting patrons know they can't come in wearing hoodies, sunglasses or hats.

Both Blankenship and Morales were charged with aggravated robbery. Blakenship was additionally charged with second degree assault for allegedly striking Stephenson with the vehicle. They are being held in the Adams County Jail.
