Hunter Missing In White River National Forest Found Alive
RIO BLANCO COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A hunter who was reported missing on Saturday has been found alive and safe.
According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Office, David R. Boelcke, 61, from Michigan was reported missing by his hunting partner at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
The two were hunting in the White River National Forest after setting up a camp by Pagoda Lake. They were supposed to meet up for lunch and Boelcke's hunting partner told authorities Boelcke never showed up.
"Mr. Boelcke's hunting partner reported Mr. Boelcke missing to Ripple Creek Lodge and the sheriff's office was contacted," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue, Meeker Fire and Rescue and Classic Air Medical Helicopter began searching after Mr. Boelcke was reported missing. They were unable to locate Mr. Boelcke."
A Colorado Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) was used in a search conducted Sunday night but the missing hunter wasn't located.
The sheriff's office said on Tuesday afternoon that Boelcke was found alive and was being transported to the hospital.
No other details have been released.
