Werthmann Blog: 'Challenge Accepted!'
6/21
It's been nearly a month since my last run, and this evening's mini jaunt around the lake at City Park made that quite obvious. Huffing and puffing during a light jog showed me just how quickly I can fall out of my running rhythm & shape…and embarrassing to boot!
Nothing like getting back out on the pavement with a group of seemingly hard-core runners with their high-tech running watches, shoes and such only to break a good sweat two minutes into the WARM UP!! I'm trying to take that as motivation rather than listen to the little running devil on my shoulder telling me to quit. That fiery diablo gets to into my head quite frequently during my workouts as I'm new to this running thing and sometimes would much rather have a donut or catch up on Netflix. I won't say how many times he wins… ;)
RUN WITH CBS4: Track Team CBS4
That said, meeting the coaches with Runner's Edge of the Rockies today has me saying, "challenge accepted!".
David & Joel make running look easy, but they have great advice & encouraging words for runners at every level. I couldn't take part in the entire workout tonight, but I'm already looking forward to the next one. Perhaps David & Joel are the little angels on my other shoulder encouraging me to get up and go…no matter how much wheeze or want to stop. I may not have all the fancy running gear (yet?), but this group has me amped for my next run and getting back into my rhythm…albeit a slow one.
P.S. I still want a donut.
