Walt Weiss Steps Down As Rockies Manager
DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado Rockies announced Monday that Walt Weiss will not return as the club's manager.
Weiss "has decided to step down" according to the Rockies official release. His contract with the club ended following the 2016 season.
The Rockies finished the 2016 season with a 75-87 record and were 3rd in the National League West standings. In four season as the manager Weiss was 283-365, and failed to reach the postseason.
Weiss played for Colorado for four seasons from 1994-1997, and was a special assistant to the general manager for seven seasons from 2002-2008.
