Walmart Triple Shooting Victims Identified
THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4)- CBS4 has learned the identity of all of the victims in Wednesday night's shooting at the Walmart at 98th and Grant Street in Thornton. The victims are Victor Vasquez, Pamela Marques and Carlos Moreno.
The victims were identified by the Adams & Broomfield Counties Coroner.
Vasquez, 26, of Denver leaves behind two girls. His fiancee is expecting another child.
The Vasquez family has set up a GoFundMe page in memory of Victor.
"The loss of Victor Vasquez is a shock and he is leaving behind 2 beautiful girls, his fiancé Alexis who is pregnant due in January and a loving family," the GoFundMe page read.
Marques, 52, of Denver and Moreno, 66, of Thornton, were the other two victims identified in the shooting.
Moreno worked as a structural trades technician at the Auraria Higher Education Center. His colleagues are shocked and told CBS4 the community lost a wonderful man.
"He always had a smile on his face. He often had a road runners hat from Metro State University, again he took a lot of pride in the campus, was a very can-do attitude kind of person and genuinely cared about what we were doing with the students and staff here on campus," said Blaine Nickeson, Chief of Staff at Auraria Campus.
The family of Pamela Marques has set up a GoFundMe page in her memory.
Police arrested the suspected gunman in Westminster. They believe Scott Ostrem randomly shot and killed three people inside a Walmart in Thornton on Tuesday.
CBS4 video captured just before 8 a.m. shows Scott Ostrem being handcuffed on the street and put in a police car near 72nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard.
"He was taken into custody without incident," said Thornton police spokesman Victor Avila Thursday morning.
Ostrem, 47, of Denver, was identified Thursday morning as the suspect in Wednesday's shooting.
Police say Ostrem walked into the Walmart at Grant Street and 98th Avenue just after 6 p.m. and began randomly firing a handgun. Two men were shot and died and a woman who was also shot was taken to the hospital and died soon afterwards.
