'A Walk To Remember' Focuses On Infant Loss

DENVER (CBS4) - A local organization is helping parents through a difficult time. It's called "A Walk to Remember" and helps those suffering from a miscarriage, still birth or SIDS.

The organization provides resources to metro area hospitals to help those parents. A gift basket includes a stuffed teddy bear and support tools to help parents grieve a lost child.

Everyone on the board has suffered a loss and understands how difficult it can be.

"We do this as a way of paying things forward. All of the board members have suffered a loss ourselves. We doing this to let other parents, other families know they're not alone in the walk of grief and they're not alone in their journey," Eva Holcomb with A Walk to Remember said.

"It gives people a chance to talk about infant loss because it's such a taboo topic and it really shouldn't be," said Amy Welnak, who lost her child at 24 weeks.

The foundation is based in Littleton, but distributes gift baskets to many metro area hospitals.

A walk will be held in September.
