Von Miller Sees A Way To Help Young Students Get On Right Track

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Broncos Super Bowl MVP Von Miller keeps working on and off field.

Miller's Back-to-School Vision Day at STRIVE Prep – SMART Academy in southwest Denver provided free vision screenings, eye exams, and corrective eye wear to 150 Denver area students.

"Children filed through the school gymnasium to receive no-cost exams and glasses. With the help of local volunteers," a spokesman from Von's Vision said in a prepared statement.

"An additional 150 vouchers for free screenings, exams and glasses were donated to STRIVE Prep to help children who were unable to make it to Miller's program."

Miller wasn't able to attend the event because of a commitment to the Broncos, but he did issue a statement.

"There is no better way to start the school year off than with glasses to get these kids on the right track. It's the one thing they need to have a solid foundation in the classroom," Miller said in the statement.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock also issued a statement.

"We're excited to reach Denver-area residents of all ages this week with free, comprehensive eye care," Hancock said about the initiative. "Eye health is critical to everyone's overall health, and I encourage people to come and take advantage of this free service."
