Tow Truck Dragging Death Suspect Appears In Court

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- The woman arrested for manslaughter for allegedly dragging a tow truck driver to his death appeared in court Wednesday afternoon.

Detra Farries, 32, was arrested on Friday on manslaughter charges. The district attorney said they have until March 9 to file charges in the case.

The tow truck driver, Allen Rose, 35, was preparing to tow

away an illegally-parked SUV from the 300 block of N. Murray at the Hill Park Apartments last week. Witnesses said that's when the vehicle's owner, Farries, jumped into it and allegedly drove away.

Investigators said Rose tried to chase the SUV but got tangled in a dangling tow cable and was dragged for more than a mile.

Farries appeared in court in Colorado Springs for an advisement hearing. Her next court appointment is scheduled for March 9.
