Your neighborhood park is free and many are home to some of the best playgrounds and fun areas for children of all ages. Grab the kids, pack a picnic lunch and prepare for a fun time of climbing, swinging and sliding. Your kids will have a great time playing on the equipment while you enjoy a relaxing time chatting with your friends and watching your kids have the time of their lives.
Belleview Park

Located just a few feet from Pirates Cove Family Aquatics Center, Belleview Park is always a fun place to visit. There is a lot of great playground equipment to play on including a climbing wall and even a reclining swing. Plus, in addition to the playground, you'll find some other fun things to do for a very minimal cost. The miniature train has run in Belleview Park for more than 30 years, and it's open every summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day. You can take a ride for just $1.75 per person. Or visit the Belleview Children's Farm for a barnyard full of animals to get to know. Admission to the farm is also just $1.75 per person and it also runs only during the summer.

Westlands Park

Westlands Park is a true architectural treasure in southern Denver. Recently featured in Landscape Architecture Magazine, this park was honored with the Top of the Rocky Playground and is one of the most popular playgrounds in the Denver area. There are three different play areas for toddlers through teenagers, with a couple of huge climbing structures to play on, including one that is shaped like a large hand. There are also lots of water features and picnic areas, making this park a favorite for the whole family.

Altair Park is probably best for the older kids, it's home to a giant alien ship that your children will have a blast climbing in and on. Any kids that love space or aliens will have a great time exploring the spaceship. Ages seven to 12 will probably adore this park. It may be a smaller park, but it is the perfect example of a neighborhood park, with a large ball field to play on as well. If you have both younger and older kids, then bring them both and toss a ball around while the other kids play on the equipment.

This very special park is named after a fallen police officer, and it is a fitting tribute to an important man. The park is home to Webster Lake and has lots of picnic areas and a basketball court. The great feature is the sensory playground which was installed in 2004. This playground was specifically designed for children of all abilities and it has some very innovative features. You'll find a wavy walking area, a small stage, plus you can rent pedal boats, go fishing and more. A day at the E.B. Raines, Jr. Memorial Park is a fun way to spend time with the whole family.

This park is widely known as one of the most popular playgrounds in all of Denver. You'll find a lot of rubberized surfaces, making it a bit safer for those active children, as well as a sand play area and lots of great landscaping. The playground has a fun climbing structure with a big spiderweb full of ropes, lots of monkey bars and slides and even water play areas. This park may be located right near busy downtown but it is a great family destination for kids of all ages.
