Toddler Survives Fall Out Of 2nd Story Window

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A child has been released from the hospital after falling out of a window on Saturday.

The 2-year-old boy fell out of a second story window at the Tanamera Apartments in Jefferson County. Sheriff's deputies say it appears a window was open and the boy fell through the screen down onto rocks 24 feet below.

Two people saw the fall happen and called 911.

The boy was airlifted to The Children's Hospital. He has no broken bones or any serious injuries.

Wendy Forbes with North Metro Fire says their firefighters see this type of thing several times every year.

"If you are going to have those windows open, you are really going to have to stay in the area and monitor your children," Forbes said. "There's simply no second best thing to being physically present with your kids."

Every year in the U.S. as many as 20 children under the age of 11 die from falling out of windows, and 15,000 are injured.
