Toddler Fished From Steamboat Creek Improving

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Officials say the 15-month-old boy who apparently fell into a creek in Steamboat Springs has been doing better since he was taken to The Children's Hospital in Denver in critical condition.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today reported Wednesday that Edwin Rodriguez is now in fair condition.

He was pulled from Butcherknife Creek on June 4.

Authorities say he might have fallen into the creek when he wandered away from home. He was found about 400 feet downstream from where he lives. His grandfather was able to pull him out.

Several Steamboat restaurants say they'll donate 1 percent of their sales through Monday to help the family with the child's medical expenses.
