Tiny Homes Get Big Attention At The Denver Home Show

DENVER (CBS4) - This year's Denver Home Show was big on tiny houses.

At 250 square feet you wouldn't necessarily call one tiny home roomy, but it sleeps six, and its small square footage was getting some big attention. It was just one of more than a dozen tiny homes that were on display at the Denver Home Show.

Randy Woodman with Escape says each tiny home comes with nearly everything found in a traditional home.

"We talk to a lot of people who are getting ready to retire," Woodman said.

The smallest at 160 square feet goes for $46,000. Home Show organizers say from camping to downsizing to retirement, the homes are getting more and more popular.

"People really like the idea of the freedom of a simplified life," Cristian Moore with the Denver Home Show said.

Moore says just two years ago they had only one on display, but this year it's one of the show's most popular attractions. Builders say uses for the homes vary but a growing number are embracing the compact culture feet first and calling them home.

The Denver Home Show ended on Sunday.
