Thrill Seekers Go Surfing On The Colorado River

GLENWOOD SRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Surfers are known to flock to Hawaii or California to catch a big wave, but some are now finding that there's a place in land-locked Colorado just for them.

Plenty of brave people were out "surfing" on the fast-rushing Colorado River in Glenwood Springs over the weekend.

It works just like surfing in the ocean, except that you stay in the same spot as the river rushes by. And on the river you have to dodge the occasional whitewater raft that goes by or piece of debris.

"When you fall off the wave you've got to struggle to out of a river that's at floodstage," one surfer told CBS4.
