Thousands Attend Easter Sunrise Service At Red Rocks
MORRISON, Colo. (CBS4) - Several thousand people started off the Easter holiday bright and early. They attended the annual Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks amphitheater.
Tens of thousands of people from across the metro area listened as a gospel choir sang at the service.
This year's featured speaker was Denver Mayor Michael Hancock who also serves as a deacon at his church. He delivered the sermon and spoke about Jesus Christ the reason Easter is celebrated.
"They placed him in a cold unforgiving grave, rolled the stone in front of the entry and guarded and he got up. On the third day he got up," Hancock said.
Attendees were asked to bring non-perishable food items to contribute to the Compa Food Ministry.
