Theater Shooting Suspect Could Be Reading, Watching TV Stories About Himself
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Aurora theater shooting suspect James Holmes may be watching news stories about himself on TV and reading newspaper stories about himself and the Aurora theater massacre.
Arapahoe County jail authorities say Holmes has regular, unfettered access to both cable television and daily newspapers.
"All inmates have access to that," Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson told CBS4.
He said Holmes "has access to reading materials through the library, including newspapers and general television. Typically he would have the ability to read the Denver newspapers, and television is immediately available to him "said Robinson.
The sheriff said Holmes, like other inmates, can watch basic, limited cable television channels but he does not have access to premium channels like HBO and Cinemax.
Robinson explained that jail inmates watch cable TV because the dense structure of the jail makes it impossible to receive over the air television signals.
The sheriff said since Holmes is being kept in segregation, away from the general population, he would watch TV by himself.
Holmes, 24, is scheduled to appear in court again Monday as prosecutors are scheduled to lay out the formal charges he will face. Holmes is being held without bond.
