Suspected Driver In Deadly Tow Truck Death Back In Court

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- The woman who was allegedly behind the wheel of the SUV that dragged a tow truck driver to his death on Feb. 23 was back in court on Friday.

Detra Farries' attorney was asking for her bond to be reduced. Farries, 33, has been charged with manslaughter, vehicular homicide and hit and run.

Prosecutors claim Allen Rose, 35, was in the process of towing Farries' SUV when she jumped in an drove away, with Rose getting caught in the chains. Police said he was dragged for miles.

Rose's widow was at the hearing.

"It's just really hard. All I can do is take it day by day. Today it's more like moment to moment," said Renee Rose.

Farries is in police custody after she violated her bond by moving to Denver without telling the bondsman.

Her attorney claims the current $50,000 bond is five times what is usually set in this kind of case.

Farries is scheduled to appear in court on April 29.
