Driver Who Crashed Into Garage After Being Shot In Head Dies
DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver have arrested a man wanted in connection with shooting a woman while she was driving. That woman then crashed her car into a garage and later died.
Officers were called at 7:24 a.m. Friday to the 1200 block of North Clayton Street on reports that a car crashed into a parked Jeep and then drove into a brick structure. That's when officers discovered the woman driver had been shot in the head. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died several hours later.
"About 7:30 I heard a shot and looked out the window," said witness Richard Dalton.
About six hours later, police arrested Ryan Miller for investigation of attempted murder.
Dalton believes he may have seen the shooter running away from the alley at 12th and Clayton.
"I see people who are normally here. This man did not belong in this neighborhood," said Dalton. "He looked like he was pumped about something alright. So that could have been adrenaline, could've been. He accomplished something he was out to do."
"It's pretty crazy, especially right here because I've never heard gunshots around here," said neighbor Jacob Stewart.
Police said Miller, 27, and the shooting victim knew each other. Police have not confirmed where Miller was arrested or what led them to him.
"Right now this does not appear to be random in nature," said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.
Police have not released Miller's mug shot because the investigation is ongoing.
