'Supergirl' Star Melissa Benoist Says Colorado Shaped Her
LOS ANGELES (CBS4) - The actress who stars in the CBS show "Supergirl" says learning her trade in Colorado has been the key to her success in the entertainment industry.
"I miss you, Denver!" said Melissa Benoist from Los Angeles in a satellite-linked interview with CBS4 on Monday morning.

The second episode of the show airs Monday night at 7 p.m. on CBS4, after a much-hyped premiere that scored very well with TV viewers across the country.
Benoist, along with co-star Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), said in the interview that the experience with the show has been "epic" so far.
"Some days I look down and see the 'S' and I kind of have to remind myself what I'd doing and where I'm at and how crazy it is and how lucky I am," Benoist said.
"That goes for me to," Brooks said."Jimmy is an iconic character on his own in DC Comics. I've had that pinch myself moment a few times."
Brooks described Benoist as a great person to work with.
"Thank you Denver for raising a 'super girl,' because this woman is heroic. She works harder than anybody I've ever met, but she still keeps a very calm and professional and sweet demeanor," he said.
Benoist grew up in Littleton and went to Arapahoe High School.
"Denver, it was my childhood. I grew up at the Country Dinner Playhouse, Town Hall Art Center and Lakewood Cultural Center. I just did theater all over the city and just had so much fun. It was my whole life, and it definitely shaped who I am as an actor," she said.
When asked about what her message is for young people in Colorado who look to her as a role model, she said "just keep going."
"You just don't think that you ever won't make it and do what you want to do and luckily you're in a place that culturally has so many opportunities for you and artistically has a lot of opportunities," Benoist said.
