String Of Car Break-Ins In Arvada

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - Arvada police are investigating a string of more than a dozen car break-ins.

At least 17 vehicles in Arvada were targeted overnight Thursday. They were parked in the area of 64th and Ward Road.

In some cases vehicles were left unlocked but in others the thief or thieves smashed windows to get in.

"A lot of people have hard times, I have hard times too, and what they do is bust into my stuff," victim Mark Schmidt said. "I don't get it, I work hard, go get a job."

Mark is a teacher and says his backpack with papers was stolen along with a cell phone.

iPods and cash were among the items taken from other cars.
