Arapahoe High School Spanish Teacher Accused Of Sexual Assault On A Child
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Sarah Porter, a Spanish teacher at Arapahoe High School, has been arrested, accused of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. She has been placed on leave.
Porter, 24, is accused of assaulting a 16-year-old student. She was arrested on March 22 on charges of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust and sexual exploitation of children/pornography/obscene material.
She has been teaching Spanish at Arapahoe High School since August 2018. Porter also worked at the school as an assistant volleyball coach and assistant track coach.
According to court documents, Porter started sending messages via Snapchat during track practice. He told police that Porter was very "touchy" and spent a lot of attention coaching him.
About a week after practice started, according to the court documents, Porter took the student from track practice to an office to get a uniform. While in the office, she turned out the lights and "grabbed him." She told him to follow along or "I will do something."
That's when the student told police that she started kissing him and tried to pull down his pants and grabbed him. He also told police that she sent him videos of her masturbating and other nude pictures via Snapchat.
Littleton Public Schools placed Porter on administrative leave on March 21 and according to the school district, will not return to Arapahoe High School or to Littleton Public Schools.
Counselors will be at the school after spring break to help students cope with the allegations and charges.
The school district says that the administration was made aware of the allegations through Safe2Tell. The program is run through the Colorado Attorney General's Office.
"Our commitment is that we are going to treat anyone who reaches out to us, as anonymous. This is important for the program that we tell people you can report information and we're not going to tell the person you called on, that you were the one," said Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser.
