Snowboarder Killed, Another Injured In Avalanche On Cameron Pass
LAKE AGNES BASIN, Colo. (CBS4) - A snowboarder was killed and another seriously injured near Cameron Pass in North Central Colorado on Saturday.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says the snowboarders were navigating backcountry terrain when they were caught in the slide in Paradise Bowl on the west side of the pass.
Search and rescue teams located the injured snowboarder after a search that lasted longer than an hour. The snowboarder who died was found unresponsive. Their names haven't been released.
CAIC says avalanche danger is considerable across the Rockies. This winter's sporadic snowfall and warm temperatures have contributed to dangerous conditions in the backcountry.
Four people have been killed in Colorado this avalanche season.
