Snow At Ski Resorts Keeps Piling Up

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Things are dry along the Front Range, but the snow keeps piling up at the ski areas -- and they love it.

Most ski areas in Summit County usually see 200 to 300 inches of snow in a season. Right now some resorts have already reported as much as 400 inches.

"It's amazing. We've been just getting pounded with snow every week," Justine Spence with Keystone Resort said. "In the last week we've had 25 inches."

Spence said Keystone has surpassed their 10-year average with 303 inches as of Monday.

"When you talk about an epic year, you come over Loveland Pass and the snow is so deep," a skier told CBS4.

"This is the best season I've ever had in my life," another skier said.

Most ski areas start to wind down in the first weeks of April. At Arapahoe Basin, officials think the snow will last much longer. But when the season does end, it won't be the last use of the snow. The rivers are already breaking open, set for what could be an impressive runoff.

Many areas are already concerned about flooding when the runoff does happen.
