Small Plane Crashes In Larimer County, Pilot Walks Away From Crash
LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A small plane crashed at about 1 p.m. Thursday in Larimer County. The pilot walked away from the crash.
The single-engine plane crashed near County Road 5 and County Road 40. The 69-year-old pilot was trying to land the plane on an unpaved airstrip on his own property but decided at the last minute to make another approach.
As he was trying to gain altitude to attempt another landing he hit some trees causing the plane to crash.
Firefighters with the Poudre Fire Authority helped prevent a fire as they controlled the fuel leaking from the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board was notified of the incident.
Although the pilot was able to walk away from the crash, he was transported to Poudre Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
