Skeleton Found In Mesa County Could Be Man Who Went Missing 20 Years Ago
GATEWAY, Colo. (CBS4) - Detectives with Mesa County are working on a new development in a missing persons case more than two decades old.
A hiker found a human skeleton in a partially buried car southwest of Gateway. Police believe it may be a man who disappeared without a trace.
The area is Bureau of Land Management property.
The hiker found the old station wagon with no license plates that was partially hidden by rocks and other sediment presumably washed down over the years.
"We have a number of pieces of evidence which lead us to believe this relates to a missing person's case reported to us 20-plus years ago," Sgt. Matt Lewis told the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.
Lewis didn't elaborate on the missing persons case.
