September Brings More Than A Change Of Season To Colorado

DENVER (CBS4) - Labor Day is said to be the "unofficial" end of summer, but in reality, the season doesn't come to a close until 8:29 p.m. (MT) on Sept. 22.

The ninth month of the year means an end to the annual monsoon cycle, and a wider variety of daily temperatures, as strong cold fronts start to move south out of Canada; sometimes bringing the first snowfall of the season.

September is the fourth warmest month of the year in Denver, starting off with a normal high of 84 degrees and a normal low of 54 degrees.

By the end of the month, the normal high and low is 72 and 42.

Daytime highs can still climb into the 90s, even though the chances decrease with each passing day.

The hottest September temperature on record in Denver is 97 degrees and it has happened 4 times.
