School District Responds To Claim Of Discrimination Against Transgender Child
FOUNTAIN, Colo. (CBS4) - The Fountain-Fort Carson School District has responded to a complaint of discrimination against a transgender child.
Coy Mathis was denied access to a girl's bathroom at her elementary school. Her parents say, although she was born a boy, she identifies with being a girl.
Mathis is now being home schooled, but her parents want her back at Eagleside Elementary.
The school district has answered the complaint but details are not public. However, the attorney representing the Mathis family says the district concludes state law on transgender students is not clear.
