Resident With View Of High Park Fire Posts Social Media Updates
LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- While hundreds of people remain evacuated from their homes as the High Park Fire continues to burn, a few people who live outside the evacuation area are watching the drama unfold.
David Duty lives over the ridge and across the Poudre River from the Glacier View subdivision which was put on a pre-evacuation alert. He's able to watch the fire and post video of the fire's behavior on Facebook.
"It spread pretty fast," said resident David Duty.
He watched as the flames gained strength Wednesday evening and smoke billowed up into the sky. The glow and smoke aren't making it easy for Duty to rest.
"I haven't been getting much sleep," said Duty.
"I've been doing lots of video, putting it on Facebook for my kids because they're all worried."
Though his family is worried Duty said he won't leave unless the fire jumps the Poudre River.
"The only bad part about the smoke is you can't really pinpoint where the fire is. So you get a little worried when that happens," said Duty.
Evacuated residents are also thankful to the posts from Duty because it gives them an idea of where the fire has burned and where it's spreading.
