Remembering Jerry Krantz
DENVER (CBS4)- The death of Jerry Krantz at 77 this week tore a hole in the fabric of street level culture in Denver.
Krantz ran El Chapultepec at 20th and Market in LoDo for decades; even long before the revival brought on by the building of Coors Field.
For years the unwitting king of jazz music in Denver, Jerry was known around the country for running an unpretentious joint where jazz greats stopped to play for free, just for the love of music.
In 2008, CBS4's Alan Gionet sat down with his friend Jerry, to talk about the history of El Chapultepec.
