Police Release Photo Of Similar Car Involved In 'Bump & Runs'

DENVER (CBS4) - Police are looking for a driver who's been on a crime spree. He targets women, hitting the back of their car then gets out and robs them.

The robberies have happened three times in the last two months.

Officers are looking for an Acura CL Coupe that's black or dark in color.

Denver police say once the woman gets out of the car to look at the damage the suspect pulls out a knife and steals the woman's purse.

"He's very intent on what he's doing, he's targeting women that have purses and he's basically very deliberate in going after them," Sonny Jackson with Denver police said.

In two cases the suspect approached his targets walking on the street. The first was near 16th and Gaylord. Another was in the Cherry Creek North shopping area near 3rd and Josephine. The most recent was near Wesley Avenue and Quebec Street.

CBS4 talked with a woman who was a victim of what police call a "bump-and-run" in Jefferson County earlier this month. She was targeted by a man in Littleton. Police are looking to see if they're related.

"When you're bumped, think about, 'Where am I pulling over? Am I pulling over in a area making myself vulnerable to be harmed?" Jackson said.

Denver police say the suspect hasn't seriously hurt any of his victims but the potential is always there.
