Police Arrest Matthew Buchanan In Death Of His Mother
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Florida arrested Matthew Buchanan for the death of his mother, who was found in a house that had caught fire in Castle Rock on April 26. The arrest was made early Tuesday morning in Monroe County.
Castle Rock police initially named Buchanan as a person of interest in the case. Elizabeth Bjorlow was found dead in her Castle Rock home as firefighters extinguished the fire, and another person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The home is located near Dove Valley Place and Paint Pony Circle.
Records show that Bjorlow, 59, had previously filed for a restraining order against her 32-year-old son.
Buchanan is being held by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office until he can be extradited to Colorado. He's facing charges which include Second Degree Murder, a Class 2 Felony.
"I'm so proud of our team for their diligent and quick work, and we hope this arrest brings some relief to our community," Castle Rock Police Chief Jack Cauley said in a statement. "We are grateful to the many agencies who assisted us in locating this wanted person."
