Police Announce Suspect In Death Of Harlem Globetrotters Trainer
FREDERICK, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators in Weld County have identified a suspect in the death of Thomas Bashline, a trainer for the Harlem Globetrotters.
Police haven't released the suspect's name but say he is already in custody on unrelated charges.
Bashline, 42, was found shot to death in his home on Nov. 4 in Frederick. No gun was in the home, but investigators now say they have what's believed to be the murder weapon. The Associated Press reported that Bashline knew the suspect.
So far it's not clear why Bashline's truck was reportedly found near Boulder after the crime.
The murder shocked friends and family in the small Colorado community where he lived. Friends say they don't know of anyone who disliked him. They also said he had recently found what he wanted for the rest of his life when he met his girlfriend.
In addition to his job with the Globetrotters, Bashline worked at Brighton High School as a trainer for more than a decade and mentored students and organized rodeos. He also ran a business that gave drug tests to pro athletes to confirm if they used banned substances.
