Patrol Car Crashes En Route To Scene Of Hit And Run

AURORA, Colo. (AP/CBS4) -- Police in Aurora say a man was struck and injured by a hit-and-run vehicle, and that a patrol car responding to the incident collided with an SUV.

Police say 39-year-old Keino Taylor was helping a friend whose SUV had broken down on Thursday when he was hit by another vehicle, which drove away. After analyzing the crash scene, investigators say the hit-and-run vehicle was an older model, blue or teal, Honda Civic or Accord. The car lost its passenger side mirror and has extensive bumper damage.

Doctor performed one surgery to repair the damage in Taylor's leg, but have told him he will have to endure more surgery in the coming days.

Investigators say the officer and the driver whose vehicles collided in the second incident suffered minor injuries.

Police say the patrol car's lights and siren were on when the SUV turned left in front of it. No citations have been issued but the investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Aurora Police Detective Joe Petrucelli (303) 739-6924.
