Pastor Cites Bible In Sex Scandals In Denver Sermon

DENVER (AP) - President Barack Obama's former pastor Jeremiah Wright delivered a ribald sermon Sunday on the biblical story of King David's sexual impropriety, attempted coverup and its tragic consequences.

According to the Denver Post, Wright told members of the Shorter Community African Methodist Episcopal Church that King David was anointed by God to be king, but he messed up.

Wright's message on sexual misconduct was topical, given recently revealed high-profile missteps and coverups by former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York.

Obama was a longtime member of the church but resigned from it and cut ties with Wright after videos surfaced during the presidential campaign showing Wright's sometimes provocative sermons.
