New Developments Revealed In Aurora Murder Investigation
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora have a person of interest in the case of a young mother found murdered. Camille Jackson, 21, was found dead in her apartment in February.
Thomas Greer, 47, is in custody at Bend Correctional Facility in Las Animas after he was extradited from Texas. That's where Greer was arrested for violating parole. He was on parole after serving time for second degree murder in El Paso County in 2000.
"It breaks my heart that I wasn't there for her. I wasn't there to protect my daughter," said Camille's mother Monique Jackson. "This time I couldn't save my little girl."
Camille's infant daughter, Imani, was left inside the apartment where her mother was murdered. The infant's cries alerted police.
Monique recently learned how her daughter died.
"Strangulation and asphyxiation as the cause of death," said Jackson.
Jackson said her daughter and Greer met at work and were dating.
"She says, 'There's this supervisor that really likes me. He really, really, really likes me.' And I didn't think anything of it," said Jackson.
After her murder, Camille's friend forwarded some text messages to Jackson that Camille had sent to her.
"Camille had kind of thought he was a little bit off, or crazy, or odd, and had some reservations," said Jackson.
She called investigators with the information.
"They were saying that they weren't able to find him, they were looking for him. He had disappeared," said Jackson.
The Department of Corrections said Greer was arrested in Texas after violating parole by leaving Colorado. Greer was arrested just days after Camille was found murdered.
"I feel that it's a crime that's not going to go unsolved, that they're working hard to do their best and piece together what happened," said Jackson.
Previously, police confirmed there was no forced entry into Camille's apartment by anyone other than officers. Jackson said her daughter's keys were missing and the door was locked.
