Mother Charged In Son's Death, Allegedly Leaving Children Alone In Bathtub

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- A mother will be charged with child abuse in the death of her infant son. Police said she left her two small children home alone in the bathtub.

Estella Toleafoa, 23, was arrested for felony child abuse recklessly causing death to a child. Her 9-month-old son, Erich Tyler, Jr. was scalded and drowned. Investigators said he suffered severe burns from bath water on most of his body.

Pplice said Toleafoa left her children alone in the tub on Tuesday while she went to a nearby convenience store and restaurant.

The 2-year-old was able to get out of the tub and is in foster care.

Toleafoa's husband was serving in Afghanistan, but is on his way back to Colorado.
