GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Mesa County commissioners want Clifton and Fruitvale to pay more of their own way for county services.

County leaders say they have discussed a proposal for an additional sales tax with business owners and plan to hold a series of public meetings .

State law would allow the county to increase the 2 percent sales tax by another 1 percent.

According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, a sales tax question could appear on the ballot next year.
