Mesa Colorado Legislative Candidate Refuses To Step Down
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A candidate for the Colorado House of Representatives is refusing to step down after admitting mistakes over his job as a police officer and a bankruptcy filing.
Republican Jared Wright apologized to voters Tuesday for controversy surrounding his campaign, but he said it will be up to voters to decide if he should serve.
Republican party leaders say voters would not have picked Wright for the November election if they'd known that he left his job as a Fruita officer over allegations of dishonesty. They also cited a bankruptcy filing that came to light after Wright called for fiscal conservatism at the Colorado Legislature.
