JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Deputies in Jefferson County arrested two men they claim were very busy burglars.

Detectives believe Michael Magee and Jerod Stultz may have robbed at least 100 storage units across the metro area. The alleged robberies include units in Lakewood, Littleton and Arvada.

Deputies said the pair had stolen tens of thousands of dollars worth of items. They have an evidence trailer full of stolen items after a two-year crime spree, including tools, electronics, jewelry, sports memorabilia and other items.

"There's definitely a strong possibility they have been involved in all of these," said Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mark Techmeyer.

Techmeyer said the men cut the locks and plundered truckloads of items from units. He said as the crimes mounted, the department put out extra patrols to monitor storage units.

Early Tuesday morning a deputy saw two cars parked at a mini storage unit facility in Jefferson County. The deputy caught Magee and Stultz there on the scene. More items were found in the suspects' homes.

As detectives begin the long process of sorting through more than 1,000 items, some Jefferson County residents are breathing a sigh of relief.

"I'm glad the criminals are off the street and I hope they get their justice because it's not fair," said resident Linda Zumbrunnen.

The sheriff's office said they will begin to contact victims once the recovered items are identified.
