Man Posts Photo On Facebook Shortly Before Climbing Death

ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) - A 25-year-old climber has died after summiting a 14,000 peak near Aspen.

Sean Wylam of Highlands Ranch made it to the top of Snowmass mountain, snapped the following photo and posted it on Facebook.

He also posted another self-portrait.

On the way down, he was killed in a rock slide. Its unclear whether he fell or was hit by falling rock.

Wylam was a student at the University of Washington. He only recently moved to the Denver area.

The Pitkin County Sheriff's office said he was hiking alone.

It's not unheard of for a person to be able to transmit a data file from the top of a fourteener in Colorado such as Wylam did. Several online forums on the topic state that it can be done with certain digital carriers.
