Man Found Guilty Of Murdering Elementary School Teacher
DENVER (CBS4) - A man accused of murdering a school teacher has been found guilty on all counts.
Investigators say Ryan Miller shot and killed Andrea Roan in December 2011 while she was driving in a Denver alley. It was first thought she died from the crash.
Roan was a fifth grade teacher at Alsup Elementary School in Commerce City. She had recently ended a brief relationship with Miller and a judge had ordered Miller not to contact her.
"The deciding factor was overwhelming evidence that placed the defendant at the scene of the crime, involved in the crime," a juror told CBS4. "There was no question in the end after discussions of his involvement."
Police also arrested Richard James Leavitt in connection with Roan's murder. Leavitt, 27, has been charged with accessory to first-degree murder.
Police believe Leavitt drove Miller to and from the crime scene and helped hide the murder weapon. Leavitt pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in February.
